Halotherapy

in a treehouse-inspired salt cave

Sitting in a salt cave has many of the same effects as sitting on the beach for a few hours. You get to breathe in the salty air and walk away feeling refreshed.

Our salt cave is a playful, unique environment where you'll get to walk in the salt, sit in a cave, and enjoy the views from a treehouse, all at the same time!

Our cave accommodates up to 15 people for private events. We are currently booking only two individuals in the space at a time, unless you are part of the same party.

Halo-what?

Halotherapy is also known as dry salt therapy, and it evolved from speleotherapy. For 45 minutes, you sit in a peaceful environment and breathe in finely ground pharmaceutical grade salt. The micro-particles of salt are carried through your nasal passage into your airway passages and lungs. Its natural anti-bacterial properties begin dissolving pollutants and allowing the airways to open.

Salt that isn't inhaled lands on your body, providing additional healing benefits to exposed skin. This therapy complements traditional medical treatments for respiratory, skin, and mental health conditions.

Salt is naturally antibacterial, antiviral, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory. You could just say it's the "anti-bad stuff" and call it a day!

As the pharmaceutical-grade sodium chloride (salt) enters your respiratory system, it reduces inflammation, "scrubs" away irritants, and clears the airways. It can be particularly helpful for the conditions below.

  • asthma

  • bronchitis

  • COPD

  • cystic fibrosis

  • emphysema

  • hay fever

Skin

Salt will also fall on the skin, so any exposed areas can reap healing benefits as the salt clears impurities, reinforces the skin's protective barriers, normalizes the skin's pH levels, and soothes irritated areas.

  • acne

  • psoriasis

  • eczema

  • dermatitis

What to Expect

What to Expect

before your session

Avoid stimulants.

Caffeine and nicotine can provide a burst of energy that makes it harder to relax in the salt cave. Avoid drugs and alcohol too.

Eat a little.

A growling stomach will be distracting, but also try to avoid eating a heavy meal so you don't feel sluggish. Light meals and snacks are great!

Dress down.

Be comfortable.  For skin therapy, you'll want to expose your skin, keeping in mind that you're in a room with several other guests. (No fragrances.)

Pack light.

We provide everything you'll need, including socks and blankets to keep you warm, and wireless headphones to listen to meditative music.

arriving at Sukhino

Leave early.

Please arrive about 10 minutes before your scheduled time so we can provide a thorough orientation. You may even want to sit in our lounge to relax for a few minutes before you enter the salt cave.

Park.

You may park on Holy Trinity Street, across from our door (except on Thursday mornings), or in the parking lot behind The Kula Center building. If those options are full, you can park on Market Street.

No shoes.

We ask you to remove your shoes at the reception area to keep the center as clean as possible. We provide cozy, non-slip socks to keep your feet warm, but you're welcome to wear your own.

Expect nothing.

We will guide you through the "need-to-know" information when you arrive. You'll sit in a dim room with glowing salt lamps, while listening to relaxing sounds. We encourage you to unplug and "just be".

after your session

Relax.

Take a few minutes in our lounge. Have some water or hot tea. Jot a note in the Salty Reflections journal or bring your own. Give yourself the gift of moving slowly and mindfully before you rush back to "the real world".

Get ready.

If you need to "get ready" before you leave, take your time in our Ready Room. We provide a hair dryer, curling iron and wands, flat iron, combs, spray deodorant, and a few other body and skincare products.

Browse.

Visit the other services in Kula Center upstairs, or shop in our boutique, where we've stocked a few favorite items to help you continue self-care at home. You'll find epsom salts, CBD oil, supplements, and more.

Drink water.

You may feel a bit dehydrated after a halotherapy session. Be sure to drink extra water throughout the remainder of your day. Then try to take it easy and prolong those salty, peaceful vibes.

I love this place! My husband and I felt so relaxed after we came out of the salt cave. Plus, I got to sit and relax with some hot tea after our session with a personal salt foot heater. The owner is extremely warm and welcoming :)

I’m hooked! Love the salt cave and purchased an additional 2 sessions (1 free) for both me and the husband. I can’t wait to come back.  We also want to try a float session very soon. So peaceful. My sinuses feel great!
